My family, both sides, are both from Ilocos Norte. Bangued, Abra, to be exact. So ever since we were kids, we would go to Bangued every Summer and Christmas vacation to spend time with my grandmother and aunts. But since my Tita Eva has been based in San Fernando La Union, they decided to move there instead. I think I was in 7th grade when they moved. So starting then, we would visit my Lalo Lalo in San Fernando La Union. (Lalo Lalo is what I would call my grandmother when I was a toddler because I could not pronounce "Lola" so that kind of stuck with everyone). Anyway, needless to say, it's been a very long time since we last went past La Union.
Years later, my Tita Eva started working in the states. So when she came back from the states last year to spend her vacation with us, she booked us all a room at Playa Tropical Resort Hotel in Currimao, Ilocos Norte so we could all relax there, including my grandmother, and just have a great time!

Playa Resort Reception |
This was the time when a big storm struck Ilocos, so we almost didn't make it. On our road trip first attempt from San Fernando going to Currimao, we had to turn back because a lot of the roads were still flooded. The following day it was all better. So we finally arrived after 3-4 hour drive I think.

Ilocos Norte Map (Image source) |
Currimao is the 3rd province in Ilocos Norte after exiting Ilocos Sur.( It's the province right before Paoay, where the famous Paoay Sand Dunes are located. So you need to schedule a day in Paoay to make the most out of your Ilocos trip! (Coming up on a separate post!)
. The place was pretty nice. Simple but nice!

Panoramic shot of the cottages |
The tall huts on the left are the bigger suites. I didn't get to take a peek inside though.

One of the casas |
I love this. I don't know what this is called but it's very photo-op worthy.
In the middle by the pond are "floating" cottages where you can dine. I think you can rent these cottages during the day or something. I loved hanging out here while enjoying the breeze.
This is also where we hung out and had some margaritas!
And here's a panoramic shot of the infinity pool! The place is really pretty. I honestly think it just needs a teeny tiny bit of maintenance. But I love the over-all feel of the resort.
Thank you God for clear skies!
Rain had a blast at the pool! The water temperature was perfect!
My sister Chai enjoying the beach view
Look at Rain's smile haha! Anyway let's go back inside...

Hallway to deluxe rooms |
This was our room. We got 2 Deluxe rooms and we all fit comfortably. The beds are pretty wide which is a plus!
And the bathrooms are actually spacious too.
They have a game area where you can play ping pong, pool, and darts.
For the food, we enjoyed their super cheesy cheese sticks
Rain had 2 orders of Carbonara during our stay
And we all enjoyed the Filipino dishes that they had on their menu. The Talong Salad was good too!

Breakfast group-fie! |
All in all, we enjoyed hour stay at Playa Tropical Resort. I guess a big factor was also that we felt we had the whole resort to ourselves (because of the previous storm, I guess no one else thought of going to the beach haha!) Thank you Tita Eva and Tito Tony for the fun vacation!!!
