Awesome news for Cebuanos!
SM Seaside City Cebu is now open! It just opened last Friday, November 27 2015! This amazing new mall is is located on the waterfront of the brand new South Road Properties development. This is an amazing great addition to the second largest city and a major tourist center in the Philippines.
SM Seaside City Cebu is situated in the middle of the
SM Seaside Complex that will soon be fully developed by SM Prime Holdings with an exciting plan to put up more structures in the South Road Properties (SRP). SRP is a prime property development project built on reclaimed land, and is just a few meters away from the central business district of Cebu.
The SM Seaside Complex, once completed, will be the center-to-be. It will be a place with hotels, residential towers, a school, hospital, and even a convention and exhibition center.
There’s a chapel that’s already built in the complex which is the
Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod. Talk about having everything you need in one place! It really sounds like a great plan and I for one am now thinking that if I ever move to Cebu, I’ll definitely want to move there.
SM Seaside City is going to be like Manila’s SM Mall of Asia where you can watch the beautiful sunset through the mountains from the Mountain Wing side and is also visible through the SkyPark. While at the Cube side will be the beautiful sunrise.
And then instead of MOA’s gigantic steel globe in the middle of the property, SM Seaside City on the other hand will have the Cube. A steel cube sculpture that is 21- meter by 21 meter big, This symbolizes strength and stability and is a tribute to the resilience of the Cebuanos in particular and the Filipino people in general. When you view it from any angle, this sculptural piece appears the same. This consistency symbolizes consistent quality service in all aspects of the mall. Plus a fun trivia... the words Cube has the same letters as the word Cebu.
The Mall
Let’s talk about the mall now. SM Seaside City Cebu is designed spectacularly by Arquitectonica, an international architecture, interior design, and planning firm from Miami, FL. That’s why it is going to be grand and a first of its kind. Its got a beautiful nautilus design concept. It’s like a spiral shell with a pearly partition. This allows a series of expanding with its concentric arcs.
The interiors just look classy and clean, don’t you think?

The Stores
The mall will have multiple anchors that includes a two storey SM Store.
It will of course have an SM Supermarket,
SM Appliance Center
Watsons...
Our Home, Kultura Filipino, Toy Kingdom, Surplus, Sports Central, and ACE Hardware will all be there as well, as always.
Aside from these, there will be over 400 shops, which includes specialty restaurants, international brands and food chains, plus of course the Food Court.
The Movies
For movie-goers, there will be
state of the art Large Screen Cinema Powered by Christie’s
There will also be two
Director’s Club, and even a Live Theater called
Centerstage which has 854 seats.
For those who love sports and amusement, there’s a
16-lane bowling center, an amusement center, plus.... Wait for it...
AN OLYMPIC SIZE SKATING RINK! This is truly one of the highlights in SM Seaside City! This is the only Skating rink in the whole Visayas and Mindanao!
International Brands will be present as well.
H&M, Uniqlo, Forever 21, and
Sfera, will all be there!
Of course, SM Seaside City Cebu will still be very “Cebu” as they will also showcase homegrown brands like those from the
Golden ABC Group, Penshoppe, Oxygen, Forme, Memo, and
Regatta; as well as
Island Souvenirs and
Loalde. And from the food side, there’s
Café Laguna, Kuya J, Harbour City (Richie’s favorite),
Majestic, Golden Cowrie, and Bo’s Coffee, among others.
Another thing to look forward to is
The Sky Park. Come up and breathe fresher air! Relax and dine in diverse dining outlets while surrounded by greenery and water features. And soon, there will be a playground built here designed by
Kenneth Cobonpue.
And let’s not forget the Iconic
Seaside Tower. This will be the landmark. This tower is 148 meters high, with a coffee shop and restaurant where you can dine and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
Another thing to look forward to is their partnership with Manila Ocean Park to bring
Ocean Park in this complex!
Parking? No problem! They have a covered parking area with 4,336 slots.
The Launch
So last November 26, SM VIPs from Manila and even abroad all flew to Cebu and gathered together for the Grand Opening and blessing of the SM Seaside City. This is definitely new the-place-to-be in Cebu!
